The introduction of the Industry 4.0 concept has unleashed a wave of opportunities for the areas of production and field operations. Not only are smart machines less prone to error than their human counterparts, through sophisticated algorithms and monitoring they are capable of self-optimizing and even predicting the need for their own maintenance. These advancements are lending to unequivocally more efficient, smart manufacturing plants and processes.
But the Industry 4.0 concept isn't the only technological advancement improving the quality and efficiency of production.
The convergence of operation technology and information technology will empower managers, providing higher visibility into operations and, through the application of advanced analytics, more actionable insights into their business in real-time.

With the objective to create something unique in the Industry 4.0 landscape, Techedge, FESTO and Alleantia have created Open Integrated Factory I4.0.
This solution is based on the integration between SAP HANA® and the advanced sensor system FESTO CPX. It uses the IoT Scada Server by Alleantia – all installed directly on the industrial machinery of FESTO to collect data from machines and compute them on the cloud in real time, driving predictive maintenance and self-optimization.
With margins decreasing and global competition increasing, manufacturing companies must ensure the most efficient operations possible.
To do this, companies must have access to critical production data.
The term Industry 4.0 has become a key concept in modern manufacturing, but still there are a lot of misinterpretations about its meaning, and most importantly about how it is going to transform the manufacturing industry.
When using a laptop or connecting to the web is less than convenient, mobile applications are key.
Mobile applications for production & field operations allow field staff to accurately capture data with ease.
