About the Customer

One of the largest suppliers in the automotive sector, with more than 50,000 employees and 150+ facilities and R&D centers worldwide.

The Challenge

Following an important M&A transaction with another leading player in the automotive industry, our customer needed to find a solution for their financial applications based on the Oracle EPM Suite, that until that moment had been hosted and maintained by the previous holding company.

Our client was therefore looking for a partner to support all the activities required to finally gain full ownership of their EPM applications. After careful evaluation supported by Techedge’s consultative methodology, they decided it was the right time to take a strategic step forward: they decided to embark in a Journey to Cloud, moving their financial applications on Microsoft Azure to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the public cloud.

Solution & Benefits

Techedge took care of the full Journey to Cloud, migrating the financial applications and the reporting & analysis solution from the customer’s on-premise environment to Azure.

All the environments - development, quality and production - are now entirely designed and running on the Microsoft Azure IaaS platform and based on Windows Servers operating system with MS SQL Server as the main repositories for data and metadata. The high availability configuration of the production environment, obtained through Azure application gateway and MS SQL AlwaysOn cluster technology with geo redundancy of data and backup, ensures the complete resilience of the solution.

With this Journey to Cloud, the company gained important benefits, including:

  • Reduction of costs for the infrastructure maintenance and governance
  • Increased robustness and security of the overall infrastructure, leveraging native Azure features
  • Significant reduction of energy consumption and carbon footprint, thanks to the high efficiency of Azure Datacenters
  • The advantage of having a single partner for both cloud and application managed services, taking care of their fast changing needs in a proactive and efficient way
