About the Customer

An American manufacturer of sunglasses and clothing for the sport market, part of a larger global group operating worldwide in the retail sector.

The Challenge

Our customer started a Journey to Cloud project with the objective of quickly transitioning from a 100% on-premise model to a full-cloud model based on Microsoft Azure, in order to finally integrate with the holding’s systems (already on Azure) and align their applications to the group’s highest standards.

Solution & Benefits

The migration involved 5 different applications running on 16 servers ( Windows server 2008r2, 2012, 2016 and Linux) and a DBMS mainly based on SQL server with few exceptions.

We leveraged our proprietary methodology and best practices to run an assessment & planning phase, prepare the cloud foundation on Azure for hosting the workloads, and finally migrate with a wave approach. The migration waves mainly leveraged IAAS, Azure Migrate and Data Migration Assistant (DMA) technologies, adopting a Lift & Shift pattern.

By migrating on the Azure public cloud, our customer could fully integrate its brand within the group, successfully rehosting all its applications and bringing them up to the standards required by the holding company.

On top of this, the customer is now able to easily extend its architecture to reflect the increase in business volumes and transactions, gained efficiency in infrastructure management and enhanced the security of its enterprise applications.
