Our client, an American multinational pharmaceutical company, is a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry, specialized in providing injectable drugs in over 70 countries. The company’s central US branch decided to provide the Australian Sales Team with a Business Intelligence solution, offering them a new instrument to support their business.
The Australian network produced a large amount of data from their everyday activities. These data were often undervalued as meaningless – but, if properly collected and analyzed, they could literally be transformed into a treasure trove of useful information. With the SAP BI solution, the Australian users would have a specific tool to help them find hidden meanings inside business data, discover trends and leverage them to make the right decision at the right time.
The company required the solution to be deployed within 3 months and needed to provide the hardware from the US data center in an even shorter timeframe; but in that same period the data center team happened to be fully staffed on a parallel initiative and could not be available to fulfill that request. Also, deploying on the US data center would have led to a long response timing for the Australian users, making the BI application annoyingly slow when performing drill down on large amount of data.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) provided the best solution to these issues: by deploying the SAP solutions on the AWS cloud, the company respected the timeline leveraging the AWS incredible level of agility. Moreover, the AWS global infrastructure allowed for improved application response time, letting the Australian users fully benefit from a true real-time Business Intelligence application.
